The Banks of the Delaware
The last time Orlando City SC traveled to Chester for a match against the Union in Subaru Park was March 25 of last year in what resulted in a 2-1 win for the Lions. Forward Iván Angulo scored the game-winner on the night with what was his first goal for Orlando City in just the ninth minute, midfielder Martín Ojeda opened things up in the second minute, shutting down a 13-game win streak at Subaru Park and denying the Union a share of the league record.
There Goes That Man
Through the first 10 matches of the Major League Soccer season, Orlando City forward Iván Angulo currently ranks first among all MLS players in total sprints made during gameplay with 393 to date, leading Atlanta’s Saba Lobjanidze (392), LAFC’s Cristian Olivera (377), NYCFC’s Mounsef Bakrar (374) and Toronto FC’s Federico Bernardeschi (351). Angulo also ranks seventh in the league this season in intensive runs with 870 at this point.
Climbing on Up
Uruguayan forward Facundo Torres will be looking to climb the ranks even further on Orlando City’s all-time scoring chart in Club history this weekend. Torres’ next goal will be his 32nd all-time for the Lions and will take him past former captain Nani for sole possession of second place in Club history. Torres has already scored four goals across all competitions in 2024 and has played two consecutive games in which he’s contributed to a goal, with one goal and an assist across that span.
Doubling Up
Saturday’s matchup between the Lions and the Union will see one player from each side missing due to suspension. Orlando City will be without defender Rodrigo Schlegel who picked up a 23rd-minute red card in the Club’s last match against FC Cincinnati, while Philadelphia Union forward Julian Carranza will serve a suspension for yellow-card accumulation. Carranza has four goals for the Union this year, while Schlegel is second for the Lions in clearances this year with 16.
Hunting Down 50
Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese’s next regular-season win will be his 50th with Orlando City and his 60th across all competitions. The Peruvian goalkeeper is Orlando City’s all-time leading goalkeeper in regular-season appearances (112), minutes (10,080), clean sheets (30) and wins (49), while he ranks second in regular-season shots (450) and saves (302) behind former Lions goalkeeper Joe Bendik.
