There was plenty to celebrate this week after another strong Orlando City Academy season, with multiple young Lions being recognized for their talent and achievements.
On the national team side, the United States called forward Ethan Subachan, goalkeeper Dominic Pereira, and attacking midfielder Favian Loyola to a week-long training camp with the U-19 squad in Carson, California, happening now through August 2.
Subachan just scored his first professional goal this past weekend for Orlando City B in MLS NEXT Pro after featuring extensively on the scoresheet for the Orlando City U-17s over the past two seasons. Pereira made his pro debut in that same match, coming on after starter Javier Otero was sent off. Loyola notched a brace for OCB two weeks ago in a thrilling comeback win over Chicago and has been a key creative piece for the U-17s.
Loyola and Alejandro Granados, a defensive midfielder who has played significant minutes for OCB this year as one of the youngest players in MLS NEXT Pro, received further recognition this week when they were both named to the MLS NEXT All-Star team. The two were among just 44 elite academy players selected to compete in Minnesota on the morning of the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, August 10.
Loyola and Granados will take part in a full All-Star Week slate of activities and events while training for the game, which will use an East vs. West format.
