The Orlando City Development Academy U-17/18s closed out the regular season with some of their best soccer of the year.
The U-17/18s won each of their last four games, including an emphatic 7-2 win in their regular season finale. David Loera, Joe Gallardo and Raul Aguilera each scored twice and Isaque Cuoto added another.
City finishes the season 24-5-1 and second in the country, one point behind Atlanta United and 20 points ahead of third-place Philadelphia (with seven more games played.)
“I’m really proud of the boys. They really hit their stride down the stretch and played some great soccer,” Academy Director and U-17/18s coach David Longwell said. “They did what we asked and gave us their all.”
Landen Haig finishes the season with 15 goals to lead the team. Aguilera and Loera finish with 13 and 11, respectively.
The U-17/18s begin their playoff run on June 21 in Indiana.
“This is a massive accomplishment for the boys and for our Club,” Longwell added. “They bought into our philosophy and training style and have shown tremendous improvement this season. We can all be proud of them and what the future holds for our Academy.”
