MLS Rivalry Week Lives Up To Hype
Three of the biggest rivalries in MLS were played this weekend, as San Jose faced LA Galaxy, the Red Bulls took on NYCFC, and Portland hosted Seattle. San Jose and NYRB both came back for 3-1 victories after conceding opening goals. Portland thrashed the Sounders with a 4-1 victory, riding Fanendo Adi’s brace in the span of three minutes.

Aron Johannsson Wants to Play in MLS at His Peak
USMNT forward Aron Johannsson said on Sunday that he wants to play in MLS “at the peak of my career.” The 24-year-old has 29 goals in 58 games in the Dutch Eredivisie. He is also on the 23-man roster for the next month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Juninho’s Golazo Puts LA Galaxy Ahead but San Jose Prevails
Juninho absolutely blasted a shot from well over 30 yards out to put the Galaxy ahead in the Cali Clasico. The lone goal wouldn’t be enough though, as the Quakes would follow up with three goals of their own.

Red Bulls Dominate Second Half for Second Derby Win
Over 48,000 packed Yankee Stadium for the second installment of the Hudson River Derby. NYCFC got off to a fast start with Thomas McNamara’s 6th minute volley and would continue to threaten throughout the half. But the Red Bulls would come back, as Bradley Wright-Phillips, Chris Duvall, and Matt Miazga all found the back of the net in the second half.
