ORLANDO, Fla. – March 21, 2016 – Orlando City SC players Kevin Molino, Darwin Cerén and Cyle Larin have been called up by their respective home nations for a pair of CONCACAF FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers on March 25 and 29.
On Thursday, March 25, Molino will join the Trinidad and Tobago National Team to play against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at Arnos Vale Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET, while Cerén will command the El Salvador midfield when they battle against Honduras at 9 p.m. ET at Estadio Cuscatlán and Larin will lead Canada’s attack when they face Mexico on Friday, March 25, at BC Place at 11 p.m. ET.
On Tuesday, March 29, Molino and the Soca Warriors will host Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at Haseley Crawford Stadium at 7 p.m. ET, Cerén and La Selecta will face Honduras at Olímpico Metropolitano at 9 p.m. ET and Larin and Canada will play at Mexico’s historic stadium, Estadio Azteca, at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The three Lions join their National Teams following City’s road victory against New York City FC on Friday, March 18, and will return in time for the next match against 2015 Major League Soccer (MLS) champions Portland Timbers on Sunday, April 3 at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.
Returning to the Trinidad and Tobago National Team after a one-year absence due to injury, Molino will look to continue his offensive tenacity with the Soca Warriors, having scored 12 times in 30 appearances since 2010. Molino’s most recent appearance with the National Team occurred on March 27, 2015, in a friendly against Panama.
City’s 2016 MLS opening-match captain Cerén earns the call up following an outstanding 2015 season with the Lions – winning the 2015 MLS Latino of the Year and Orlando City’s 2015 Players’ Player of the Year award. Cerén has made 32 appearances for ‘La Selecta,’ most recently starting in the 1-0 victory against Curaçao on Sept. 4, 2015.
Larin, the 2015 MLS Rookie of the Year, is named to represent The Reds after a strong start of the 2016 season, registering three goals, an assist and a recognition to the MLS Team of the Week in only three matches played. The 20-year-old striker has already earned 15 caps for the senior team, scoring four goals, most recently facing the United States Men’s National Team on Feb. 5.
