Know Your Opponent | Boston Breakers

KTO Brekaers

The Orlando Pride are back in action this Saturday after a successful three-match homestand last week. The Pride captured seven out of a possible nine points; positioning themselves favorably in the NWSL standings.

Next up for Orlando (7-6-5, 5th place) is a trip up the east coast to take on the Boston Breakers (3-8-7, 9th place). Here’s what you should know about the Pride’s next opponent:

Recent Matches

The Breakers have not won a match since a 1-0 victory over 10th place Washington back in July. Boston’s most recent result came on Wednesday night in a 3-1 home loss against Houston. The losing result extends the Breakers’ winless streak to six matches in NWSL competition. Boston has two losses and four draws during that span.

Who’s Hot

Forwards Adriana Leon and Natasha Dowie have done the bulk of Boston’s goal scoring this season. Dowie notched her fourth of the season against Houston -- while Leon’s five goals are the most among Breakers players this season. Margaret Purce earned the assist on Dowie’s goal and has proven to be an attacking threat down the right flank. Purce has one goal and one assist in seven starts this season.

Who’s Not

The Breakers have struggled to score goals over the course of the 2017 season. Multi-goal offensive performances have been a rarity for the Breakers -- whose 15-goal tally is the lowest total in the NWSL. It won’t get any easier for Boston this Saturday, as the Pride are riding two consecutive shutouts and recently welcomed Ashlyn Harris back to the lineup.

Head-to-Head

The Pride won all three points against Boston earlier this season on a rainy night at Orlando City Stadium. Marta and Jasmyne Spencer were the goal scorers as the Pride cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win back in June.
