Key Departures

In terms of departures, Sky Blue FC gets the award for the biggest departure of the offseason. Sam Kerr. Yes, the 2017 golden boot and MVP winning Sam Kerr. It’s not often you trade away the league’s top player who is 24 but Sky Blue did. On top of that, Sky Blue also parted ways with Nikki Stanton, Kelley O’Hara, and Taylor Lytle.

Key Additions

Out went one star, in came another. Carli Lloyd. We all know what the USWNT veteran brings to the field. Lloyd has played 720 minutes in eight appearances for Sky Blue and has tallied one goal and one assist. Other additions include Janine Beckie, Shea Groom, and Christina Gibbons.

Team Form

Well, in terms of team form there’s not a lot going right for Sky Blue. The club has two points from ten matches. That means they have yet to win a single game. Defensively, New Jersey team has had a rough go with their goal differential currently sitting at -10. Recent form doesn’t make things look any nicer. Sky Blue has lost four straight matches.

In the attacking end of the field, things still continue to look grim. Katlyn Johnson and Savannah McCaskill are the only attackers for Sky Blue with more than one goal on the season (each has two). In defense, it’s the same story. The club is tied for the second worst goals allowed mark, with 16.

Head-to-head

The Pride are 2-2-1 all-time versus Sky Blue FC. The two meetings from last season both resulted in wins favor of the Pride. The last meeting ending in a 5-0 thrashing behind braces from Alex Morgan and Marta and a goal from Dani Weatherholt. The Pride hold a 1-1-0 record at home versus the New Jersey side.
