Though the Spirit have not announced any transactions recently, they have added back to their squad three internationals in Amy Harrison (Australia), Chloe Logarzo (Australia) and Cheyna Matthews (Jamaica) who were away representing their countries at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Washington sits in second place in the NWSL standings with a 5-2-3 record (18 points) through its first 10 games this season. In their four games in the month of June, the Spirit went 1-1-2 and have only taken two points from a possible nine in their last three games. Washington enters this matchup with Orlando on the back of a 2-1 loss to the North Carolina Courage.

The Spirit’s current captain is midfielder Andi Sullivan, however, two of Washington’s four previous captains currently play for the Pride. Last season, defender Estelle Johnson wore the armband for the Spirit and, in 2017, the team’s captain was current Pride defender Shelina Zadorsky. The year before that, in 2016 when Washington reached the NWSL championship, Orlando’s Ali Krieger was the team’s captain.
