Match Preview: Orlando City Aiming to Finish Inaugural Season with Six Straight Wins

Union Preview

ORLANDO, Fla. – Oct. 23, 2015 - Orlando City SC (12-13-8, 44 points) will play its final regular season game in the team's inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) season on Sunday, Oct. 25, when the Lions take on the Philadelphia Union (9-17-7, 34 points) at PPL Park. The game, which is part of the league's inaugural "Decision Day," is scheduled to kickoff at 5 p.m. ET.

The match will be broadcasted live on MY 65 and FOX Sports Sun. In addition, the game will be transmitted live in English on Real Radio 104.1 FM and in Spanish on La Grande 1030 AM. A watch party will be hosted at Wall Street Plaza with drink specials, including $3 Heinekens, starting at 3 p.m.

"I want to win the game. I want to finish the season off as best as possible," said Head Coach Adrian Heath. "What we've done during these past few weeks and the overall commitment from the players has been exceptional. We want to finish the season off well for not only ourselves, but also for our supporters who have been fantastic all season long."

Heading into the game, Orlando City leads the form table in MLS, riding a five-game winning streak.

With City collecting 15 points in its previous five games, the Lions currently hold the longest active winning streak in the league. With a win, Orlando will conclude the regular season with 47 points – the second highest amount for an expansion team in its inaugural season, tying the Seattle Sounders' 2009 campaign (12-7-11, 47 points).

The Lions venture into Sunday's fixture coming off a dramatic comeback victory over fellow expansion side New York City FC last weekend. After falling behind to NYCFC late in the first half, a second half brace from rookie striker MLS Rookie of the Year Candidate Cyle Larin propelled the Lions to victory. Larin's two-goal performance placed his tally for the season at 17, extending his rookie record for goals in a season.

In addition, City has secured victories in its previous two road matches, defeating the Chicago Fire 1-0 and the New York Red Bulls 5-2. Sunday's contest will mark the second MLS meeting between Orlando City and the Philadelphia Union. Both sides battled to a scoreless 0-0 draw at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on Aug. 8.

The Union, who has the second worst home record in MLS (6-7-3), has registered one victory in its last four league fixtures - most recently defeating the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Sept. 20. Forward C.J. Sapong leads the team in goals, finding the back of the net nine times this season. Creative midfielder Cristian Maidana has produced 15 assists for the Union in 28 games played, tying Toronto FC midfielder Sebastian Giovinco for first in MLS.
