ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 16, 2025) – Following a three-hour and three-minute weather delay from the scheduled kickoff, Orlando City SC (13-6-8, 47 points) stormed to a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City (6-14-6, 24 points) on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium. The result extends the Lions’ winning streak to four games in MLS play and lifts the Club to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with seven regular season games remaining.
Newly acquired winger Tyrese Spicer made Orlando City history by scoring just minutes into the match. At one minute and ten seconds, Spicer’s goal beat the previous Club record of 17 minutes and 54 seconds for the fastest goal scored by an Orlando City player on his Club debut.
Sporting KC found a temporary equalizer in the 25th minute via forward Dejan Joveljic, as the two teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Oscar Pareja’s side responded in the second half with forward Martín Ojeda assisting substitute Ramiro Enrique to put Orlando back in front. Enrique’s goal was his eighth of the season and 26th all-time across all competitions, ranking sixth highest in City history. Ojeda reached 15 consecutive games in all competitions with a goal contribution, including 12 in MLS play, the second longest streak in the league’s history.
Forward Nicolás Rodríguez put the game out of reach in the 83rd minute with his first career goal for the Lions, just six minutes after entering the match.

Head Coach Oscar Pareja:
“First, I want to express the gratitude we have for our fans. With this delay, I didn’t expect that so many of them would stay, and when we came out of the locker room and saw them in the stands, it was something we won’t forget. So, to the people who waited three hours or more, I want to dedicate this victory to them and show our gratitude. Regarding the game, what a difficult game today. In the first half, we couldn’t connect our shape and Sporting Kansas City found a lot of spaces. It’s good that we opened the game so early, but afterward we didn’t play well for 20 minutes. Then in the second half, we reshaped things, the boys started adjusting some lines and tactical movements in the middle and we started flying in the game. It was much more Orlando and the second half was our half. We resolved a very difficult moment with the delay, knowing that we have to play an important game on Wednesday. So, congratulations to the players.”
