AUSTIN, Texas -- He gave it everything he had for Orlando.
Following a dominant run through the group stage in Saturday's eMLS Last Chance Qualifier at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, Orlando City eSports Athlete Martin “RemiMartinn” Oregel bowed out of the tournament in the quarterfinals to cap a strong campaign.
The Last Chance Qualifier featured 15 players competing for the final spot in the eMLS Cup, which takes place Sunday at the SXSW conference, also in Austin, Texas.
RemiMartinn, a Los Angeles native signed by Orlando City in December following previous stops with Houston Dynamo FC, LA Galaxy and LAFC, cruised through Group D to open the competition. He earned all nine possible points with victories over Fiddle (Vancouver Whitecaps), MaXe (Sporting KC) and KHALED ALI (Charlotte FC) to advance to the Final Stage quarterfinals against LAFC's Pabs.
After a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg, RemiMartinn and Pabs traded leads throughout a drama-filled second leg before Pabs pulled away with a pair of goals in extra time to advance to the semifinals, ending Orlando's strong effort.
