Orlando City SC acquires 2025 MLS SuperDraft Pick from Real Salt Lake

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 19, 2024) – Orlando City SC has acquired the higher 2025 Second Round MLS SuperDraft selection from Real Salt Lake and $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) if certain performance-based metrics are met in exchange for the Right of First Refusal to former Orlando City forward Benji Michel, it was announced today.

“Benji was a great player for us and an even better person to have in the locker room,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. “We wanted to make sure that we did right by him and his career in appreciation of what he did during his time in Orlando and wish him the best upon his return to Major League Soccer.”

Michel featured 118 times for the Lions all-time across all competitions, providing nine assists and scoring 19 goals including one tally in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final to help secure the Club’s first trophy in its MLS era.
