ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 15, 2026) – Orlando City SC announced today that midfielder and Designated Player Martín Ojeda has signed a new contract, keeping him with the Lions through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer season. The deal includes a club option for 2029-30.

“This is a major move for us as we enter our next competitive cycle,” said Ricardo Moreira, Orlando City SC General Manager & Sporting Director. “Martín is central to our attacking identity. He is a consistent creator, proven match-winner and emotional leader whose presence elevates everyone around him. He has set numerous club records during his time here, and this renewal reflects both his sustained excellence and our commitment to building a roster with long-term flexibility. We’re thrilled to keep Martín in purple as we continue our push for trophies.”

Ojeda joined the Lions ahead of the 2023 MLS season from Club Deportivo Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba in Argentina’s top division. Since then, he has set numerous club records. The Gualeguaychú, Argentina, native set the Orlando City record for most goal contributions in a single season across all competitions with 39 in 2025, surpassing Facundo Torres’ previous mark of 29. He also tied Torres for the most goals scored in a single year across all competitions with 20 in 2025.

Last season, Ojeda recorded the most consecutive MLS games with a goal contribution, producing a goal or assist in 12 straight matches and tying Sebastian Giovinco’s 2018 mark for the second-longest run in league history. His tally of 31 goal contributions in league play last year ranked fifth in all of MLS. Overall, the Designated Player has contributed to 75 goals across all competitions in his Orlando City career, making him the Club’s all-time leader in goal contributions. Ojeda is also just the third player in Club history to record 10 or more goals and 10 or more assists in a single campaign.

Across all competitions with the Lions, Ojeda has made 130 appearances, including 91 starts, scoring 33 goals and providing 42 assists. He has also taken 301 corner kicks during his time with the club, the most in Orlando City history.

“It’s an honor to renew and continue being part of this club until 2029,” said Ojeda. “We will keep working with ambition and commitment, always showing up and giving everything to defend these colors. Let’s keep growing together.”

A product of Club Ferro Carril Oeste’s youth academy, Ojeda joined Ferro’s senior team on Jan. 1, 2016, at age 18. He moved to Argentina’s Primera División in July 2017 with Racing Club before playing for Huracán and Godoy Cruz.

Before joining Orlando City, the 27-year-old midfielder appeared in 139 professional matches, scoring 35 goals and providing 23 assists across all competitions. His experience includes appearances in the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, Copa Superliga and Copa Diego Armando Maradona.

Ojeda has helped the Lions reach their first two Concacaf Champions Cup appearances and a league-best streak of six consecutive Audi MLS Cup Playoff berths.
