ORLANDO, Fla. (August 16, 2017) - Orlando City SC has begun searching for a new Development Academy director following the departure of David Longwell, who has accepted a position with the New York Red Bulls.
“We thank David for his dedication to our development academy and for everything he did to support the future athletes of this Club,” GM Niki Budalic said. “We have begun a thorough search for a new academy director and feel confident we will bring in an outstanding individual to continue moving the development academy’s progress forward.”
Longwell served as as Orlando City’s Academy Director and U-17/18s head coach for the past year. Under Longwell, the Orlando City DA U-17/18s went 24-5-1 in the regular season, capturing the No. 2 national seed in the postseason. City won all three group stage matches and advanced to the quarterfinal.
