ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 4, 2021) — Throughout October, Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride are proud to once again dedicate the month to Breast Cancer Awareness, utilizing the Club’s resources and partners to raise money toward medical advancements, share expert knowledge, and spotlight the importance of early detection and prevention.

Over the course of the month, fans can visit City or Pride social media channels to make a contribution toward breast cancer research, with the fundraiser supporting two local organizations: the Orlando Health Cancer Institute and CITY Furniture’s Pink Pumpkins campaign.

With more than 10 locations, the Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a leader in cancer care, offering the latest treatments and technology, while providing coordinated and compassionate care. The Cancer Institute team is continually researching new ways of understanding cancer, helping to create more precise and effective treatment plans.

Started by CITY Furniture president Andrew Koenig in memory of his mother Doreen Koenig, the Pink Pumpkins is an annual initiative to raise money for breast cancer research, help women get the screening they need, and ultimately save lives.

Fans can also use their online platforms to help raise money through the Pink Pumpkins campaign by sharing a photo of their pink decor on social media, tagging @cityfurniture and using the hashtag #TurnTheCITYPink. CITY Furniture will donate $1 for each post made in the month of October, up to $10,000.

The Florida-based furniture company will give away 2,000 pink pumpkin buckets to fans at the Pride’s Oct. 9 match at Exploria Stadium, where the Pride will also wear speciality pre-match tops. CITY Furniture will also serve as the presenting partner for Orlando City’s Oct. 16 match at FC Cincinnati.

On Oct. 13, Exploria Stadium will change its roof-top beacons from purple to pink in honor of Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, joining a number of Florida sports teams to #TurnTheCITYPink. Community members are also encouraged to light up their homes, offices or simply wear pink on Oct. 13 as a symbol of support.

Utilizing the reach of the City and Pride online platforms, the Club will also work in collaboration with Orlando Health professionals, community members and team personnel on a content series that educates followers on topics related to breast cancer awareness, such as early detection, the impact of COVID-19 and the future of research.

Additionally, a limited-edition Orlando Pride BCA merchandise line will be available for purchase starting on October 9th, at both ShopOrlandoPride.com or at The Den located at Exploria Stadium. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will go to supporting breast cancer research.

The Club will also participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 30, which will take place in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park.

Tickets for the Pride’s Oct. 9 match are available for purchase at Orlando-Pride.com or by calling (855) ORL-CITY. Fans can tune into City’s Oct. 16 match at FC Cincinnati on FOX35 PLUS or through LionNation TV.
