ORLANDO, Fla. (June 9, 2023) — Orlando City SC has signed midfielder Alejandro Granados to a short-term agreement from Orlando City B of MLS NEXT Pro, it was announced today. Granados is set to be available this weekend as the Lions take on the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, June 10 in a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Exploria Stadium.
Granados, 17, has featured six times for Orlando City B this season, tallying an assist in that span. A product of the Orlando City Academy, the midfielder made his professional debut on March 26, 2022, appearing 15 times with seven starts and an assist to add a year ago.
Following the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season, Granados took the next step on the Club’s development pathway by signing an MLS NEXT Pro contract to remain with Orlando City B. In his time with the Academy, Granados helped the U-17s to the 2021 MLS NEXT Cup Championship while also earning a spot in the inaugural MLS NEXT All-Star Game last summer.
On the international stage, Granados recently returned from a spell with the Spain U-17 National Team at the U-17 European Championship, where he helped La Roja to a berth in the Semifinals. Granados tallied five appearances in the tournament, scoring a goal in the Quarterfinal round against Ireland in what resulted in a 3-0 shutout victory for Spain that also qualified the side for the U-17 World Cup later this year.
