ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2024) – Orlando City SC has signed Academy and Orlando City B product Tahir Reid-Brown to a First Team contract through the 2027 season, with a Club option in 2028, it was announced today. With the contract, Reid-Brown becomes the 15th Homegrown player in Orlando City history.
Reid-Brown, 17, joined the Academy in 2020. The left back made 10 appearances and one start with Orlando City B this past season, helping push the Lions to their first-ever MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs appearance, while making an additional six appearances in the Lions’ 2022 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
"Tahir is a player that has been in our Academy system for a while now and someone that we’ve seen really grow through our development pathway,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. “He has great potential for growth as a player and we’re excited to see how he takes his opportunity with the First Team.”
The Orlando City Academy product was also named to the 2023 MLS NEXT All-Star Game following the Club’s MLS NEXT season, where he appeared 13 times in action for the Lions as the side reached the Semifinals of the MLS NEXT Cup for the third time in as many seasons, finding the back of the net one time in that span.
Reid-Brown earned his first international minutes in November 2022 after receiving a call-up to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team roster that represented the United States at the 2023 FIFA Under-17 World Cup. The Orlando native made three appearances in the tournament for the U.S.
