ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 1, 2026) – The Orlando Pride today announced the hiring of Mykell Bates and Lewis Amos as assistant coaches, along with Brian Periman as goalkeeper coach, joining assistant coach Scott Sutter on interim head coach Yolanda Thomas’ technical staff.

Bates joins the Club after serving as an assistant coach for Angel City FC during the past four seasons. His previous coaching experience includes roles at U.S. Soccer, the Los Angeles Football Club Academy and Santa Clara University spanning his 13-year career in the sport. A former U.S. Youth National Team player who represented the United States at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Bates is known for his player development expertise and individualized technical training work.

Amos arrives in Orlando after most recently serving as Girls ECNL Director and USL W League Head Coach for Sporting Jax. He brings more than a decade of experience across technical leadership, coaching and player development roles in both the United States and England, including positions with Jacksonville FC, Tulsa SC, Stevenage FC and Oklahoma Energy FC, among others. Amos holds both UEFA A and U.S. Soccer A-Senior coaching licenses and has extensive experience in academy leadership and player development. Prior to coaching, he enjoyed a professional playing career as a goalkeeper in England, Italy and the United States.

Periman joins the Pride after spending the past year as the Head of Goalkeeping for USL Super League side DC Power Football Club. Prior to his time at DC Power FC, Periman served as assistant coach and goalkeeping coach for Spokane Zephyr FC, where he helped develop one of the league's top goalkeeping units. He also brings extensive experience with the U.S. Youth Women’s National Team program, serving as both a talent identification scout and goalkeeper coach, and has held coaching roles within women's soccer programs at the University of Arizona, University of North Texas, New Mexico State University, Florida International University and East Carolina University.

Sutter was promoted to assistant coach following the departure of Giles Barnes earlier in the season. A former Orlando City SC defender, Sutter holds a UEFA A coaching license and previously served as the Pride's player development coach since joining the Club in March 2025. Prior to moving into coaching, Sutter enjoyed a 16-year professional playing career across Europe and North America, including appearances in the UEFA Champions League and representing Switzerland at the international level.
