ORLANDO, Fla. (June 22, 2016) – With 40 days since its last home match, Orlando Pride will have the opportunity to continue its home unbeaten streak on Thursday night when the Club welcomes the Houston Dash to Camping World Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and can be watched live locally on Bright House Sports Network (Ch. 47/Ch. 1147HD). The match will also be streamed at orlando-pride.com/live or can be followed on Twitter through the Pride’s official account, @ORLPride.
“Houston is a good side. They are going through a little bit of a spell, like we are at the moment, where they are struggling to score goals. They are playing well but not quite getting the wins on the board,” Pride Head Coach Tom Sermanni said. “They are an open side that plays good, fluid soccer and they’ve got some dynamic players. Having won [the previous two meetings] gives us that extra bit of confidence and I think it’s an advantage for us to be back at home, at last, but it will be another difficult game.”
It will be the third time the Dash and Pride square off, with Orlando coming away with victories in both of the prior matches.
Most recently, the Pride shutout the Dash on May 20 with a 1-0 victory at BBVA Compass Stadium behind an 81st minute goal from Kristen Edmonds. Ashlyn Harris earned her third shutout of the season in the match, making five saves in the clean-sheet effort.
Previously, the clubs met for the first time in the Pride’s inaugural home game on April 23 – in front of a record-setting crowd of 23,403 fans – with Orlando winning 3-1.
The Pride will be looking to rebound from Saturday’s 2-0 loss at the Washington Spirit, which closed out a four-game road trip for the Club. Washington’s Estefania Banini and Francesca Ordega helped the home team jump out to a two-goal lead in the first half and the Pride were unable to beat Spirit goalkeeper Stephanie Labbe, falling for its third-consecutive match.
Houston fell to FC Kansas City last weekend, after U.S. Women’s National Team captain Becky Sauerbrunn scored the lone goal of the game. Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams had another strong showing in net, making four saves in the effort.
Following the weekday match, the Pride remain at Camping World Stadium to face Tobin Heath and Portland Thorns FC at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 26. That match will also be broadcast on Bright House Sports Network.
