ORLANDO, Fla. (January 29, 2018) - Ahead of the 2018 NWSL Dispersal Draft at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 30., the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has announced the draft order as well as the list of players available for selection. Orlando will select eighth in Tuesday’s draft.
The draft order was determined by a weighted draw, using an envelope method. Teams that qualified for the playoffs, which included the Pride, received one envelope, while the non-playoff teams were given two.
The Dispersal Draft order is as follows:
Sky Blue FC
Washington Spirit
Seattle Reign FC
Portland Thorns FC
Utah Royals FC
Houston Dash
Chicago Red Stars
Orlando Pride
North Carolina Courage
The Dispersal Draft will be conducted as a snake draft, with selection order moving 1-9 in odd rounds and 9-1 in even rounds, meaning Orlando will pick eighth in the first round and then second (11th overall) in the second round. This up and down format will continue until all teams have passed or there are no players remaining for selection.
Teams are allowed to trade their picks in the draft between now and 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 30 - following which a final draft order will be released. Complete draft rules can be found at the link here.
