ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2020) - Orlando Pride has signed 2020 NWSL College Draft selection Chelsee Washington and preseason trialist Brittany Wilson, the Club announced today. Both Washington, a midfielder, and Wilson, a goalkeeper, have signed through the 2021 season with an option for the 2022 campaign.
Both were previously signed to short-term contracts with the Club ahead of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, but due to the Pride’s withdrawal from the tournament were unable to compete within the duration of their respective agreements.
“We’re very happy to have come to terms with Brittany and Chelsee,” Orlando Pride Head Coach Marc Skinner said. “Each of them showed a level of commitment and dedication representative of what it means to be a member of the Orlando Pride throughout everything we have dealt with as a team this year. We are very excited about both of them as we continue to bring young, talented players to Orlando.”
Washington, 22, was selected by the Pride at No. 30 overall in the 2020 NWSL College Draft out of Bowling Green State University. As a senior, she was named the 2019 MAC Offensive Player of the Year, finishing her college career with 85 appearances, scoring 21 goals and adding 23 assists. That same year, she racked up her second-consecutive ALL-MAC First Team Selection whilst earning United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team honors, becoming the second player in school history to earn all-region first team accolades.
Wilson, 22, first came to Orlando as a preseason trialist back in March of this year. A product of the University of Denver, she ended her career with the Pioneers with 80 appearances, registering a 0.94 goals-against average while finishing fourth in saves (230), fourth in shutouts (25) and fourth in goalkeeper wins (40) in school history.
