The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup wrapped up the group stage this week, with the Pride having nine players representing five different nations at this summers’ edition of the marquee international competition.

Eight of those players will continue their World Cup journey, advancing to the knockout stage set to begin on Saturday, June 22. A complete schedule for the Round of 16 can be found here.
Tuesday, June 18:
Australia 4, Jamaica 1 (Group C)
The Pride’s Alanna Kennedy and Emily van Egmond both featured in the starting XI for Australia for the third time at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, playing the entirety of the match for the Matildas. Australia advanced to the Round of 16 thanks to four goals from Chicago Red Stars forward Sam Kerr in Tuesday’s win over Jamaica.
Next Match: Australia will face Norway on Saturday, June 22 at 3 p.m. ET in the Round of 16.
Brazil 1, Italy 0 (Group C)
Orlando Pride forward Marta led Brazil to a 1-0 victory over Italy on Tuesday in record-breaking fashion. The Brazilian international converted from the penalty spot in the 74th minute for the eventual game-winner and for her 17th World Cup goal, passing Germany’s Miroslav Klose for the most World Cup goals in tournament history. Earlier on in this year’s contest, she became the first player, male or female, to score in five different World Cup competitions. Orlando Pride defender Camila did not appear in Tuesday’s match. With the win, Brazil advanced to the Round of 16 as one of the four best third-place teams.

Wednesday, June 19:
Scotland 3, Argentina 3 (Group D)
The Pride’s newest signee, Scottish forward Claire Emslie, closed out her World Cup campaign on Wednesday as the Scots drew Argentina to round out the group stage. Emslie played the entirety of the match and appeared in all three matches in Scotland’s World Cup run, scoring the first goal for the Scottish in their World Cup history in their Group D opener against England. With the draw, Scotland does not advance to the knockout round.
Thursday, June 20:
Netherlands 2, Canada 1 (Group E)
Pride defender Shelina Zadorsky played the full 90 minutes for Canada in their group stage finale against the Netherlands on Thursday. Despite the loss, Canada finished second in Group E and will advance to the knockout round.
Next Match: Canada is set to face Sweden in the Round of 16 on Monday, June 24 at 3 p.m. ET.
USA 2, Sweden 0 (Group F)
The United States closed out the group stage with a 2-0 victory over Sweden on Thursday to win Group F. Orlando Pride forward Alex Morgan featured in the starting XI for the U.S., wearing the captain’s armband for the defending World Cup champions. Morgan played 45 minutes in the match, subbed off after the halftime break. Orlando Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Ali Krieger did not appear in Thursday’s match.
Next Match: The U.S. will open the knockout round with a matchup against Spain on Monday, June 24 at 12 p.m. ET.
