1. The good times keep on rolling as Orlando City SC secured a season sweep of the New England Revolution for the first time ever with a 3-0 win on Hispanic Heritage night.
2. It was almost a carbon copy of the Lions' last game against Nashville SC, with the game starting slow for the Lions, getting a goal 20 minutes in and not looking back from there. If anything, the similar result shows some consistency from the team heading into the final stretch of the season.
3. Que golaço, Rafael Santos! The Brazilian fullback got his first goal of the season in spectacular fashion, curling one in from about 25 yards out. The goal wasn't too much of a surprise to his teammates, since it's something he practices almost every day after practice. He said after the game, "We joke that it's mandatory to put those reps in at the end of of training, but we do take it seriously, and if it wasn't for those opportunities to get those reps in, we wouldn't have made the most out of this play specifically."
4. The Summer of Facu isn't over yet! While he was active in open play, it was his decisive penalty strike that helped open up the game in first-half stoppage time. It was his first penalty taken since he missed his penalty against LAFC in June (his first and only miss, including his youth career). This one tonight, he hit with pace and power, making no doubt of it to beat the keeper. It's his 15th goal across all competitions, which surpasses his total goals from last year.
5. Welcome back to the scoresheet, Duncan McGuire. After coming on as a sub in the 69th minute, he and Nico Lodeiro combined just three minutes later to seal the game away for the Lions. For McGuire, it's his first goal since June 28 at NYCFC. "It's been a bit annoying for my standard," McGuire said after the game. "Definitely glad to get back on the score sheet, but at the end of the day, winning as a team, that's all that matters."
6. Off of McGuire's goal, Lodeiro also picked up his 11th assist in the regular season and his 13th across all competitions, which is the most assists in team history. Nico has been quietly racking up assists throughout the season either from starting or coming off the bench. Even though he's not the same player that he once was, his quality and contributions to the team have been exactly what the Lions have needed.
7. It was a milestone victory for Head Coach Oscar Pareja, as he picked up his 170th win in his career. He ties Dominic Kinnear for the fifth-most regular season wins by a head coach in MLS history. With his 78th win with the Lions, he continues to climb the charts in the league record books as one of the best coaches in the history of MLS.
8. The Lions have a short week as they play their next game on Wednesday, Sept. 18, hosting Charlotte FC. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET at Inter&Co Stadium.
