ORLANDO – March 16, 2015 – Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) continued its strong performances in the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Region Cup this past weekend, with the boy’s U-17 Purple 2 and U-12 Purple 1 teams finishing in first place.
In addition, multiple OCYS teams advanced to the finals in their respective divisions, finishing agonizingly close to also winning titles.
“This year’s Region Cup was another fantastic run for a number of our OCYS teams,” said OCYS Girl’s Academy Director Alan Hough. “The majority of our teams advanced with great results while implementing the Orlando City possession-orientated style of play.”

Boys:
U-11 Purple 1 – 2nd place – Lost 2-1 to JFC
U-12 Purple1 – 1st place – Won 4-2 against Purple 2 in the finals
U12 Purple 2 – 2nd place – Lost 4-2 against Purple 1
U-17 Purple 2 – 1st Place – Won 5-0 against OCYS U-17 Competitive Recreational. Will advance to President’s Cup in April.
Girls:
U11 Purple 1 – Suffered a tough defeat to a very direct and athletic Creek Soccer Club team, after defeating Creek in their opening game.
U-12 Purple 1 – Coached by Dan Nolan, the U-12s won on Saturday in the semis, but lost 3-1 in finals to Gainesville Soccer Alliance – a very direct and physical side.
U-13 Purple – Advanced to the final, losing to India-atlantic 4-1. Despite losing by three, the girl’s displayed impressive defensive performances in their previous Region Cup matches.
U-17 Gold – Won their first two games comprehensively 4-1 and 4-1. However, the U-17s suffered a 2-1 defeat after being scored on by Westside in the final two minutes of the game.
