Last Time at Chicago

Orlando traveled to Chicago earlier this season, where the Pride held the Red Stars scoreless at SeatGeek Stadium. Jodie Taylor opened the scoring in the 15th minute, which was her first goal as a Pride player. Sydney Leroux then doubled the score in the 89th minute, securing the 2-0 victory. In addition to the two teams meeting in Chicago, the Pride will welcome Chicago to Exploria Stadium for the last game of the regular season on Oct. 29.

Tymrak’s Second

Erika Tymrak scored her second goal of the season against Gotham FC this past Saturday at Exploria Stadium. Tymrak opened the scoring for Orlando after Sydney Leroux won the ball in Gotham’s defensive third, where Alex Morgan Intercepted it. Morgan then laid the ball off to Tymrak, who took a shot which deflected off goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and found the back of the net.

Alex’s Assist

Not only did Alex Morgan provide the assist to the Pride’s opening goal against Gotham, Morgan also drew the penalty on a set piece in the 89th minute. Marta stepped up to the spot and sent the keeper the opposite direction, securing the Pride’s second goal of the match. Morgan’s assist on Tymrak’s goal was her first of the 2021 campaign to go along with her five goals on the season. Marta’s penalty strike served as her fourth goal of the season.

League Standings

Chicago (29 points) and Orlando (28 points) currently sit side-by-side in the league standings at seventh and eighth, respectively. With only one point separating the two sides, Wednesday’s matchup will be crucial for the playoff picture, as both sides are on the outside looking in. The Pride and Red Stars will play a home-and-home series against each other in the final three weeks of the season.
