Goals for Gunny
Midfielder Gunny Jónsdóttir scored her first goal of the calendar year in the Pride’s last match against Washington prior to the international break, sliding onto a cross from Darian Jenkins for the finish. The goal came on the same day Jónsdóttir dawned the captain’s armband for the Pride, the first time she has done so since arriving in Orlando. Since then, the Icelandic international has played two matches with her national team, scoring a goal in each to head into Saturday’s game on a three-game scoring streak across all of her competitions.

Anna Moorhouse made her second-consecutive start in net in the nation’s capital nearly two weeks ago, posting eight saves on the afternoon. Moorhouse joined the Pride this past offseason from French D1 Féminine side Bordeaux, where she appeared 28 times through two seasons.
Welcome to the Party
A pair of defenders made their respective Orlando Pride debuts prior to the international break, with Celia and Kerry Abello coming off the bench for the side in Washington. Celia was acquired by the Pride at the 2022 NWSL Draft via a trade with OL Reign, while Abello was drafted by Orlando a year ago out of Penn State University.
The First Contribution
Forward Darian Jenkins tallied her first goal contribution as a member of the Pride in their last match, recording the assist on Gunny Jónsdóttir’s finish in Washington. Jenkins was acquired by Orlando this past offseason via a trade with the Kansas City Current, where she spent the 2021 NWSL campaign, finishing the year tied for the team lead in goals with three.
The Challenge Cup Finale - Orlando Edition
Saturday will serve as the side’s lone remaining match of the 2022 Challenge Cup at Exploria Stadium, set to close out the competition at NJ/NY Gotham FC on Saturday, April 23. The Pride will then shift their focus to the 2022 NWSL regular season, set to host Gotham just over a week later to open league play on Sunday, May 1 at Exploria Stadium.
