Mission W Night
Friday's match, presented by Walt Disney World, will mark Mission W night as part of the Club’s Mission Program. In recognition of the anniversary of the 19th Amendment and National Women’s Equality Day, the Club will honor women in Central Florida that have broken barriers and will also use the match to pay tribute to the women’s equality movement. The night will also feature special appearances from Disney favorites Minnie and Daisy.
Going Streaking
The Pride stretched their unbeaten streak to seven games following the 2-1 victory over NJ/NY Gotham FC. The current run is tied for the second-longest win streak in the Club’s history with the seven straight games the Pride went unbeaten at the start of the 2021 regular season. The Pride picked up their third win out of the seven with their victory in Philadelphia. The longest run in Club history came in 2017, when the Pride ended the regular season on a nine-game unbeaten streak.
Bringing It Back-to-Back
Orlando’s win marked the first time the Pride have won consecutive matches since winning three in a row in May 2021. With the victory in San Diego followed by the victory in Philadelphia, it was the first time the Club has won back-to-back away matches since May of 2018. Orlando has just two away games left on the year, traveling to Louisville on Sept. 16 before closing the season on the road on Oct. 1.
This is Our House Now!
The Pride have been road warriors over their last few games. Four of their last six matches have come away from the friendly confines of Exploria Stadium and the squad has managed a 2-0-2 record in those games. On the season, the Pride have earned 14 points away from home, which is the second-most away points in all of the NWSL.
Instant Impact
The match against Gotham FC saw forward Ally Watt and defender Haley Hanson both make their Pride debuts as they came on as second half substitutes. Watt came onto the match in the 64th minute and scored the game-winning goal minutes later in the 73rd minute. Watt received a pass from Meggie Dougherty Howard, took her defender one-on-one and slotted home a tight-angle shot inside the far post and into the back of the net. The goal also served as Watt’s first goal of the 2022 regular season.
Bartender…Shots Please
The Pride recorded 17 shots in the game against Gotham, which was a season high for the squad. Eight of those shots were on target which tied the team’s season high for the season. Orlando has now outshot their opponents in two out of the last three games and have scored five goals.
Access? DENIED
Goalkeeper Erin McLeod made six saves Saturday night against Gotham, which was good enough to tie her season high. McLeod currently has 58 saves on the season which is second-best amongst all goalkeepers in the NWSL. The Canadian international now has eight matches with five or more saves during the regular season.
