Milestones
- Duncan McGuire scored his 23rd goal in all competitions for Orlando City this past Friday night at Yankee Stadium, giving him sole possession of sixth place on the club’s all-time scoring charts. McGuire’s next goal will see him equal Dom Dwyer for fifth all-time, and a brace would tie him with Kaká in fourth.
- Both Rodrigo Schlegel and Kyle Smith are three starts away from 100 in all competitions for Orlando City.
- Ramiro Enrique’s next appearance will be his 50th in all competitions for the club.
International Update
- Pedro Gallese and Wilder Cartagena have returned to Orlando and are available for selection on Wednesday after Peru failed to advance from the group stage of the 2024 Copa América. Peru finished the tournament with one point in three matches.
- David Brekalo and Slovenia fell to Portugal in penalties in the round of 16 in the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament, ending a historic run for the nation. The Lions' centerback made two appearances for his country, both coming in the group stage.
Stats & Storylines
- After a stretch in which Orlando City scored just three goals in six games, the Lions have put eight home over their past three, the most the team has scored in a three-game span since August 28-September 7, 2022, the three matches leading up to and including the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final.
- Unfortunately, Orlando has also conceded eight goals in those three matches, the third time the Lions have shipped at least eight in a three-game stretch in 2024.
- Orlando got two goal contributions from fullbacks on Friday night. Dagur Dan Thórhallsson recorded his fourth career goal for the Lions, while Kyle Smith earned the secondary assist, his seventh helper in purple.
- Duncan McGuire got on the scoresheet for the second time in three matches on Friday, bringing him to eight goals in 1,304 minutes in 2024. McGuire scored three times in five games from April 13-May 11, including one against Wednesday’s opponent, Toronto FC.

Meet the opponent: Toronto FC
- Orlando City lost to Toronto FC for the first time under Oscar Pareja back on April 27, coughing up a 1-0 lead in the 87th minute and conceding the winner three minutes later. The Lions had won four straight against TFC and were 6-0-1 against the Reds since 2021 prior to the defeat.
- The Lions have not lost at BMO Field in more than six years – their last loss in Toronto came on May 18, 2018. Cristian Higuita scored for Orlando in a 2-1 loss. Since then, Orlando is 2-0-2 in Toronto and 3-0-2 in “away” games against the Reds, including 2021’s match played behind closed doors at Inter&Co Stadium.
- Jonathan Osorio, who started that 2018 game for TFC, will be unavailable for Toronto on Wednesday, as he and teammate (and former Lion) Richie Laryea are with Canada at Copa América. The Reds also could be down starting goalkeeper Sean Johnson (United States) and will be missing starting center back Kevin Long due to a yellow card accumulation suspension.
- McGuire is up to four goals in three matches against Toronto after his goal on April 27. McGuire’s last trip to BMO Field ended with him scoring the MLS Goal of the Matchday over Michael Bradley.
- Other players on the Lions roster with Orlando City goals against Toronto include Iván Angulo, Dagur Dan Thórhallsson, Facundo Torres, and Kyle Smith.
- Nicolás Lodeiro defeated the Reds twice in the MLS Cup Final as a member of the Seattle Sounders, scoring the penultimate penalty for his side in the 2016 shootout and providing an assist in a 3-1 win in 2019.
- Toronto has scuffled of late, losing four in a row and going winless in seven after a relatively strong 7-6-1 start. Despite sitting above the playoff line in eighth place, the Reds are tied with New England for the most losses in the Eastern Conference (11) and have conceded the third-most goals of any East team (37).
