Orlando City Interim Head Coach Martín Perelman

On the result

“I think the team is in process. We’ve been talking about it all week. The important thing is the performance. It’s hard to say that when you lose like two days ago and easier to say it when you win, but for me the message is the same. We are working, the team is growing, the players are giving an amazing effort and we didn’t win the league today and we didn’t lose it two days ago. This is a long season. What matters is where we stand at the end. That is our mindset.”

On the team’s performance

“I think it’s about time. The more time we have, the better we can do things on and off the field. In this industry, and in life in general, it’s about time. Every time we have one more session and every time we have one more game, we should be developing our team and it’s only about time. It’s hard because we don’t like to lose, but it’s time. The only thing that has changed is time.”

Orlando City SC Midfielder Luís Otávio (Interpreted)

On the result

“This was one of the best games we’ve played so far. It shows the depth, strength and determination of the team, and we hope to continue building on this moving forward.”

On his goal

“It was improvisation. The way the ball came, instincts took over and I hope to do that a lot more.”

On the team’s approach to Charlotte

“Coach [Martín Perelman] studied them and we worked all week on exploiting their openings. I think he was very successful in taking advantage of those opportunities.”

Orlando City Forward Justin Ellis

On the result

“Difficult game. I think they’re a good team right now and obviously we haven’t been at our best, but we see every game as a new opportunity to get three points. Right now, we don’t have a lot of time to train, so playing these games is good for us. We’re still improving, we’re still getting to where we want to be and where we’re going to be. I think we’re doing well now.”

On his first MLS goal contribution

“It was a special moment for me. I think that play summed up my play style. I’m a striker by trade, but I like to get my teammates involved. I don’t like to be the one finishing the play every time. Playing with someone like Tincho [Martín Ojeda] helps me every day. He’s always talking with me. We’ve created a good bond, even though we haven’t played too much together. We’re good friends off the field. He’s one of the most humble people on the team and obviously one of the best players. It’s good to be associated with him both on and off the field.”

On his teammates’ influence on his development

“I think that’s what makes me feel comfortable on the field, having them around me and supporting me, just like I support them. We’ve been playing together for many years, and it’s not just me asking them for advice. We talk about it off the field, about the opportunities we get and how it felt being out there. We’re all very supportive of each other. There’s a strong bond among the academy products and we’re all really close.”
