Opening Statement

ā€œDisappointing result... Obviously,Ā toughĀ as well when youĀ goĀ so long for a break. IĀ didn’tĀ feel like we started the game too well.Ā We allowed Seattle to get on top in the first 15 minutes, andĀ thenĀ we got backĀ into the game with some really good opportunities to score.Ā And when you haveĀ greatĀ opportunities like that, youĀ have toĀ punish the team. WeĀ didn’tĀ in the first half. We started the second half well,Ā right on the front foot, everything that we asked.Ā We made some adjustments, we changed [Jacquie] Ovalle over to the left-hand side, [Seven] Castain to the right-hand side, asked Barbra [Banda] to stayĀ moreĀ on the left-hand side and we got the reward with the goal.Ā And then, we let ourselves down towards the end. ButĀ there’sĀ going toĀ be someĀ growingĀ pains, as well.Ā There’sĀ a lot ofĀ new players,Ā young playersĀ as well,Ā finding their feetĀ within the league. I just told them youĀ don’tĀ lose the league in the first game.Ā WeĀ have toĀ keepĀ building,Ā we have to keepĀ moving forward, and they fullyĀ understand that."Ā

On Barbra Banda’s performanceĀ in her return from injuryĀ

ā€œJustĀ herĀ constant threat, getting in those positions, threatening from behind.Ā I think in the first half, [Ally] Lemos plays a terrific ball,Ā weighed perfectly,Ā andĀ again,Ā it'sĀ just getting back intoĀ whereĀ I thinkĀ herĀ touchĀ goes a little bit too wide. She forces theĀ [Claudia] DickeyĀ into a good save, butĀ I thinkĀ on another day, she takesĀ thatĀ moreĀ central,Ā eliminatesĀ herĀ defender and slots it away.Ā Like I said, one of the hardest things is to create chances,Ā butĀ we'reĀ creating chances with the threats that weĀ haveĀ andĀ it'sĀ just the finishing part of it.ā€Ā

On Seven Castain’sĀ professionalĀ debutĀ

"She scored a couple of goals inĀ preseason. The last two games,Ā I think sheĀ scored two goals,Ā soĀ she had good momentumĀ playingĀ inĀ a different position,Ā as well. At TCU,Ā she was aĀ strikerĀ andĀ she’sĀ evolved herĀ game to play as more of a winger. You know, versatile, playing inside, playing on the outside, and at times being up front with Barbra [Banda] and I thought she was a constant threat. To say it was herĀ debut,Ā youĀ wouldn’tĀ evenĀ haveĀ recognized that,Ā soĀ credit to her.Ā It’sĀ a tough environment, especially ifĀ you’reĀ a young player, coming here and you know the expectations are high.Ā The league is relentless, regardless of who you would play,Ā soĀ for a lot of them, you know,Ā they’veĀ got their feet wet and now theyĀ have toĀ progress in the right way, and I know they willĀ do.ā€

Opening StatementĀ

ā€œFirst game of the season, itĀ didn'tĀ go our way, butĀ I think weĀ played well as a team andĀ it'sĀ a lesson for usĀ goingĀ into the next game.Ā We know the league isĀ veryĀ tough, so we need to pull up our stockings andĀ hoping for the next game weĀ need toĀ getĀ theĀ maximumĀ threeĀ points.ā€Ā

On returning from injury and scoring a goalĀ

ā€œIt feels good. BeenĀ outĀ forĀ a long time andĀ my first game,Ā andĀ scoringĀ onĀ my first game, that gives me a go-ahead into the next gameĀ alsoĀ to work hard andĀ keepĀ onĀ scoring. I miss scoring, so I want to keepĀ on scoring.ā€Ā

On her emotionsĀ returning to playĀ

"IĀ think it’sĀ theĀ trustĀ fromĀ the team andĀ everyone. Coming back fromĀ theĀ injury andĀ findingĀ myselfĀ in the lineup,Ā I thinkĀ thatĀ keeps me moving andĀ to workĀ extra hardĀ becauseĀ it’sĀ aĀ game ofĀ competitionĀ andĀ everyone’sĀ fighting for your number.Ā Each and everyĀ time you need toĀ up your game.ā€

Orlando Pride Forward Seven Castain

Opening StatementĀ ā€œIt's disappointing. You never want to lose at home, but I think we did a lot of good things tonight, and it's about capitalizing on our opportunities and being sharp in the back.ā€Ā OnĀ her professionalĀ debutĀ ā€œI don't know if there were expectations, to be honest. This is a dream; I've been dreaming about this since I was so young, so really it was just coming out here, having a good time, working hard and hopefully giving my team what they needed.ā€Ā OnĀ the transition from collegiate to professional soccer

ā€œIt’s very transitional. It’s up and back, up and back, so you kind of have to be ready to go, you have to be ready to sprint all the way up with [Barbra] Banda. Sometimes you're going to sprint all the way up and not get the ball and you have to be okay with that and you have to be able to do it every single time because you never know when that ball is finally going to slip through or if she's going to take a shot and it’s going to get rebounded and that's my chance to be there, so it's giving her full effort regardless of if you get the ball or not, so I think that’d be my biggest lesson for sure.ā€
