Another for Acuña
The weekend saw Orlando City B forward Cristofer Acuña net his second goal of the season for the Lions, converting from the penalty spot in second-half stoppage time. With the finish, Acuña now sits tied for the team lead in goals scored for OCB in 2023 along with teammates Alex Freeman and Jack Lynn, each with a pair to their credit.
A Duo of Debuts
This past Sunday saw two Lions make their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro debuts, with goalkeeper Dominic Pereira and Ian Garrett both entering the match. The former saw his first minutes of 2023 after appearing once for Orlando City B a year ago, while the latter made his Club debut, entering the match in the 55th minute. Garrett, 27, spent last season as a member of Rochester NY FC in MLS NEXT Pro, appearing 21 times with 19 starts, scoring one goal and adding a pair of assists.
Facing the Pigeons
Orlando City B looks to face an NYCFC II side that it went three matches unbeaten against in 2022, taking a victory and a pair of draws through a trio of contests. Lions forward Jack Lynn found the back of the net three times against the Pigeons a year ago, including a brace to lead City to a 2-0 shutout victory on Aug. 12 at Belson Stadium.
Defending the Fortress
The Lions will look to maintain their unbeaten record at Osceola County Stadium over the weekend, having taken a pair of victories through two matches in Kissimmee this season. Orlando City B defeated Huntsville City FC 2-1 in its home opener on March 31 before taking a 2-0 shutout victory over intrastate rivals Inter Miami CF II the following weekend on April 9.
