Between the Sticks

Goalkeeper Javier Otero helped the Lions secure their first extra point of the season last weekend, tallying two saves in the end of regulation shootout to deny NYCFC II from the spot. Otero has started every match for Orlando City B this season, one of five players on the squad to do so, to follow up a 2022 campaign that saw him lead all of MLS NEXT Pro with 100 stops.

Leading the Pack

Midfielder Cristian Medina notched his second assist of the season over the weekend, now leading Orlando City B with his pair of helpers in 2023. Medina has started all but one match for the Lions in 2023, serving as one of six players to tally an assist for the side this campaign.

Defending the Fortress

With the draw against NYCFC II last Sunday, the Lions maintained their unbeaten streak at Osceola County Stadium to start the season, now sitting with a pair of victories and a draw in Kissimmee to start the year.

OCB took a 2-1 victory over Huntsville City FC in its home opener on March 31 before taking a 2-0 shutout win over intrastate rivals Inter Miami CF the following weekend.

Twice as Nice

Defender Nabi Kibunguchy scored not just his first goal for Orlando City B over the weekend, but his second as well, bagging a brace over NYCFC II to now tie for the team lead in finishes in 2023 with teammates Cristofer Acuña, Alex Freeman and Jack Lynn.

The goals served as his fifth and sixth in MLS NEXT Pro, having scored four goals for Minnesota United FC 2 a season ago.
