Twice as nice
Orlando City Homegrown Alex Freeman scored his first professional goals in OCB’s last outing against Huntsville City FC, tallying a brace in the first half with finishes in the third and 43rd minute.
Friday served as Freeman’s first outing in MLS NEXT Pro of the season, having missed the side’s opener while away on international duty with the U.S. U-19 squad.
Against the Herons
The 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season saw the Lions and the Herons split the series at Osceola County Stadium, the first meeting resulting in a whopping 6-0 shutout victory for the Lions. That match saw Jack Lynn net a hat trick for City, with Moises Tablante tallying an assist on each of Lynn’s three finishes.
Making a first impression
Midfielder Cristian Medina made his Orlando City B debut over the weekend getting the start for the Lions against Huntsville. Medina wasted no time making a first impression, sending the ball in behind for Freeman’s second goal of the evening.
Two for two
Orlando City B enters Sunday’s match with two victories under its belt, looking to make it three in a row over the weekend to extend their best start in their MLS NEXT Pro tenure.
The next two matchups will see the Lions face off against two neighboring rivals, the first being intrastate foes Inter Miami CF II before traveling north for the first time to face Atlanta United 2 next weekend, which serves as one of NEXT Pro’s seven expansion clubs entering 2023.
