As the Orlando Pride return home once again, here are six things to watch for on Saturday night:
Marta With the Most
Forward Marta enters Saturday’s match with 94 appearances across all competitions for the Pride, tied for the most ever with former defender Toni Pressley. With an appearance, she will become the Club’s all-time appearance leader. Since signing with the Pride in 2017, the six-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year also leads the Club in goals scored (28), assists (14), shots (209), tackles (145) and chances created (169).
Milestone Unlocked
Last Saturday's match saw defender Megan Montefusco record her 150th NWSL regular season appearance and her 31st appearance as a member of the Pride, 30 of which have been starts. Montefusco joined the Pride ahead of the 2022 season and has since logged 2,672 minutes on the pitch. The defender recently signed a new agreement with the Pride, securing her in Orlando through the 2024 season with an option for 2025.
Extending the Streak
Saturday’s match will mark the third-ever encounter between the Pride and the Kansas City Current at Exploria Stadium. The Pride are currently undefeated in Orlando against the Current and are seeking to extend their record to a third-consecutive match. The two clubs’ first showdown in 2021 saw a 1-0 score with a goal from former Pride player, Alex Morgan. The two teams met again at Exploria Stadium in 2022, resulting in a 2-2 draw with former Pride defender Toni Pressley converting from the penalty spot in the 96th minute.
Give Me Moor
Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse is currently ranked second in the league in saves. Moorhouse has recorded a total of 48 saves across 10 games and has logged two shutouts throughout her NWSL career, earning her first after the Pride’s victory against Racing Louisville and the second the following week on the road at NJ/NY Gotham FC.
See You in The City Beautiful
The Pride have won three consecutive matches at home, recording wins from Racing Louisville, the then-undefeated Washington Spirit, and the 2022 NWSL Champion Portland Thorns. Saturday will see the Pride look for a fourth in what would serve as the first time that the side has tallied four-consecutive home wins since the Club’s first four matches ever played in downtown Orlando, doing so from April 23 to June 23 of their inaugural campaign in 2016.
Amongst the Best
Forward Adriana has taken the most shots of any Pride player this campaign, sitting at fifth in the NWSL at 25. Through 12 appearances for the Pride this season, the Brazilian international has logged 1,079 minutes, tied for the team lead with rookie Messiah Bright in goals scored with three. In the Pride’s last outing at Exploria Stadium, she became the first Pride player to record a brace this campaign and the first since former Pride forward Sydney Leroux did so on June 23, 2021, against this weekend’s opposition in the Kansas City Current.
