Here are five storylines to watch for Wednesday's match in Orlando:

Even Ground

Orlando City enters its midweek matchup with the Philadelphia Union trailing the all-time series by just one game at 8W-9L-7D, underscoring the parity that has defined this Eastern Conference matchup. At home in Central Florida, the Lions have posted a record of 4W-3L-4D against the Union across all competitions, providing a solid home foundation as Orlando looks to level the series in front of its supporters this Wednesday.

Defensive Pillar

Club captain Robin Jansson reached a major milestone by making his 200th MLS regular-season appearance for the Club in the Lions’ last match against CF Montréal on May 9. The center back is the franchise leader in appearances, having debuted for Orlando City on March 23, 2019, when he started an away match against Red Bull New York. Since then, Jansson has been a constant presence in the Lions’ backline, serving as a steady source of leadership and consistency at the heart of the defense.

Home Sweet Home

Orlando City returns to Inter&Co Stadium following a four-match road trip highlighted by a dramatic 4-3 comeback win over intrastate rivals Inter Miami CF on May 2. The Lions were last at home April 22, when they earned a decisive 4-1 victory over Charlotte FC, and now open a pivotal three-match homestand. Orlando City will host the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday before welcoming Atlanta United FC twice, first in MLS regular-season action on Saturday, May 16, and again in the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 19. Inter&Co Stadium has consistently been an advantage for the Lions, who hold a 73W-44L-49D record in MLS regular-season competition at home.

Scoring Surge

Orlando City put together a strong stretch of attacking form in recent weeks, scoring 14 goals over four matches across all competitions after last being held scoreless against Houston Dynamo FC on April 18. That run ended May 9 against CF Montréal, marking the first time in five matches the Lions failed to find the back of the net. The 14-goal output stands as Orlando City’s most productive four-match span since the 2025 season, when the Lions scored 15 goals across four games from Aug. 2-16 in Leagues Cup 2025 and MLS play.

Wednesday Warriors

Orlando City has embraced midweek action this season, posting a perfect 3-0-0 record in Wednesday matches. The Lions opened the run with a U.S. Open Cup win over Naples FC on April 15 and followed it with another midweek victory against the New England Revolution on April 29. Sandwiched between those results was a dominant 4-1 MLS win over Charlotte FC on April 22.

Milestone Tracker:

  • Duncan McGuire’s next goal will be his 32nd for Orlando City in all competitions, which would pass former club captain Nani for fourth all-time.
  • Martín Ojeda is four goals across all competitions from catching Cyle Larin for second in club history at 44 and seven from tying Facundo Torres’ club record of 47. Ojeda is five assists away from Mauricio Pereyra’s club record, also 47.
