Forward Justin Ellis earned his first career call-up to the United States Men’s National Team this week, becoming the latest Homegrown Player to receive a senior national team selection. The 19-year-old entered Saturday’s match having recorded assists in five consecutive matches across all competitions before his streak came to an end last weekend. Ellis remained involved in Orlando’s attack, helping build the play that led to Iván Angulo’s opening goal.

Angulo’s Hot Streak

Iván Angulo enters Saturday’s contest in the best scoring form of his MLS career. The Colombian found the back of the net for a third consecutive league match last weekend, bringing his season total to four goals and his Orlando City tally to 16 across all competitions.

Lions Go Global

Several Orlando City players will depart for international duty following Saturday’s match in Philadelphia. Justin Ellis received his first senior call-up from the United States Men’s National Team, while defender David Brekalo will join Slovenia, midfielder Wilder Cartagena will represent Peru, winger Marco Pašalić was selected by Croatia and forward Tyrese Spicer will report to Trinidad & Tobago. Ellis and Cartagena could also face off during the international window, with the United States and Peru scheduled to meet in an international friendly in downtown Orlando on Sept. 26.

Last Meeting Thriller

Orlando City and Philadelphia Union produced one of the season’s most entertaining matches when the sides met on May 13 at Inter&Co Stadium. The Lions earned a 4-3 victory behind a four-goal first half, holding off a late Union rally to secure all three points. The win snapped Philadelphia’s unbeaten run against Orlando and marked the Lions’ highest-scoring performance against the Union since 2021.
