Here are five storylines to watch for Saturday's match as the Lions play the Revs in Foxborough:
Designated Dominance
Orlando City’s Designated Players are enjoying a remarkable run of form, contributing more to the scoresheet than any other DP trio in Major League Soccer. Luis Muriel has been a consistent presence in the attack, recording 12 goal contributions with an even split of six goals and six assists. Marco Pašalić has added to the firepower with 10 goals and four assists, bringing his total to 14. Leading the way is Martín Ojeda, who has been the most productive of the trio, tallying 10 goals and 10 assists for a total of 20 goal contributions in regular season play. Altogether, the three have combined for an impressive 46 goal contributions – more than any other group of Designated Players in the league. The closest challengers are Eastern Conference rivals Nashville SC, whose DPs have totaled 42 goal contributions to date.
Not So New England
The Lions’ visit to Gillette Stadium in 2024 was a historic one, as they secured their first-ever win at the venue with a 3-1 victory on July 13. After falling behind 1-0 in the 23rd minute, Orlando City responded with three unanswered goals in the second half to claim all three points. Facundo Torres led the charge with a brace, while Ramiro Enrique netted the game-winner. Saturday marks the second meeting between the two Eastern Conference sides in 2025. Their previous encounter ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Inter&Co Stadium in early May, highlighted by a hat trick from Orlando midfielder Martín Ojeda.
Pride of Gualeguaychú
With a secondary assist on Robin Jansson’s goal, Martín Ojeda became just the second player in Orlando City history to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a single MLS regular season. He joins former captain Nani, who accomplished the feat in 2019. Ojeda is now just two goal contributions away from tying Nani’s club record of 22 in a single MLS season. The assist also extended his streak to eight consecutive MLS matches with a goal contribution, a club record. During that span, he has tallied two goals and seven assists. Since the start of 2024, the Argentine No. 10 has amassed 13 goals and 19 assists across his last 34 MLS regular season starts. A native of Gualeguaychú, Argentina, Ojeda currently ranks fifth in MLS for total goal contributions this season.
Road Warriors
The Lions hit the road this weekend for a trip to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Orlando City has been one of the league’s top road teams in 2025, currently unbeaten in their last three away matches and with just one loss in their past 10 MLS road games dating back to March. Over that three-match unbeaten stretch, the Lions have earned two wins and a draw, scoring seven goals while conceding only four.
Naša Zvijezda
Major League Soccer announced earlier this week that Orlando City SC forward and Designated Player Marco Pašalić has been selected for the 2025 MLS All-Star Game in Austin, Texas, where he’ll join teammate Alex Freeman in representing the Lions. Pašalić has recorded 11 goals and five assists across all competitions this season and is the only player to have started every MLS regular season match for Orlando City. In league play alone, the Croatian international has tallied 10 goals and four assists, becoming just the fifth player in club history to score double-digit goals in their debut season and the 13th overall to reach that milestone at any point in their Orlando career.
Milestone Tracker:
-Ramiro Enrique and Martín Ojeda are now tied with Dom Dwyer for sixth on the club’s all-time scoring list with 23 goals, and each just one goal away from matching Kaká in fifth.
-Martín Ojeda (20) is two goal contributions away from tying Nani’s 22 in 2019 for the most productive MLS regular season in club history.
