Fredo’s on Fire
Orlando City B forward Wilfredo Rivera has started the 2024 campaign on a high note. Rivera currently leads the Lions in goals scored and has also contributed an assist to his goal contributions, tying him for the team lead at three with fellow forward Yutaro Tsukada. During his time with OCB, Rivera has tallied six goals and provided seven helpers through 22 starts in 38 appearances across all competitions for the Lions.
First Time Meetings
Saturday’s matchup between Orlando City B and Chattanooga FC will be the first ever meeting between the two sides and OCB’s first trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee, as a member of MLS NEXT Pro. Chattanooga FC began play this season, joining MLS NEXT Pro as one of eight expansion teams for the 2024-2025 season.
Picking Up the Fouls
Entering this weekend, Orlando City B midfielder Jhon Solís leads all players in MLS NEXT Pro in terms of fouls suffered, being fouled by the opposition 24 times in six games played and averaging four fouls suffered per match. As a team, the Lions currently rank fourth among all MLS NEXT Pro clubs in the same category with 99 fouls suffered, trailing only FC Cincinnati 2 (112), Portland Timbers 2 (112) and Philadelphia Union II (104). Solís has accounted for nearly 25% of the fouls that OCB has suffered this 2024 campaign.
Road Warriors
The Lions have spent four of their first five matches to start their 2024 campaign as the away team, with their one “home” match being played at IMG Academy as a neutral-site matchup at Generation adidas Cup. Of those four road matches, Orlando City B was able to take at least a point away from each matchup, taking a win over Atlanta United 2 and Crown Legacy, and securing the extra point at Huntsville City FC via the end-of-regulation shootout. OCB’s win over Crown served as the North Carolina-based side’s first-ever loss at home in the regular season.
