ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 12, 2023) – The Orlando Pride have acquired an International Roster Spot for the 2024 season from Utah Royals FC in exchange for goalkeeper Carly Nelson and $65,000 in Allocation Money, it was announced today. Nelson appeared in four matches across all competitions for the Pride since signing with the Club at the beginning of 2023.
“Carly was a very important piece to our goalkeeping corps this season, pushing the group each day, contributing to the culture we are building, and putting in strong performances when she was called upon,” VP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter said. “We were excited to bring her back to the NWSL this past season and will certainly miss her, but we are so happy to help her return home to Utah to be closer to her family. Carly is an incredible asset to any locker room, we wish her nothing but the best, and we look forward to seeing her on and off the field in the future.”

Nelson made three appearances in the NWSL regular season, making two starts and recording 10 total saves. The Lindon, Utah native also made a start in between the sticks in a UKG Challenge Cup match, making five saves in a 1-1 draw against the North Carolina Courage on September 17.
