ORLANDO, Fla. (April 16, 2024) — The Orlando Pride has waived defender Tori Hansen and goalkeeper Kaylie Collins, it was announced today. They were both loaned out last season with the former being loaned to Melbourne Victory FC and the latter to Western Sydney Wanderers FC.
“I want to thank Tori and Kaylie for allowing us to play a part in their professional journeys. Their hard work and competitiveness played a role in driving our culture to where it is and their contributions are appreciated,” VP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter said. “Working in collaboration with the athletes and their agents, we collectively agree this decision best facilitates their continued professional play in environments where they can compete for major match minutes. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and will always consider them a part of the Pride family.”
The Pride originally selected Hansen with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft. During her time with the Pride, Hansen appeared in two matches, both of which came in the 2023 UKG Challenge Cup. The former University of North Carolina Tar Heel found the back of the net in the match against the Washington Spirit on May 10, with a backheel finish.
Collins was also originally selected by the Pride with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft. She appeared in three games for the Pride, all of which were starts and made three total saves. Throughout the 2021 season, Collins was with the Club numerous times as a National Team Replacement Player, before making her professional debut in the Pride’s final 2022 Challenge Cup match, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. In the 2023 season, Collins earned two starts in between the sticks, once in a UKG Challenge Cup match and once during regular season play.
