As the Pride look to keep their winning ways going, here are five things to watch for on Sunday night:
“Never Tell me the Odds!”
In the series history between the Pride and Racing Louisville across all competitions, the home team has never lost a match in the nine-match run. The Pride have won two of the last three home matches against Louisville, with the draw coming as the Pride were the home team in a match played at the Daytona International Speedway back in the 2022 season. In the last home matchup, the Pride earned all three points with a 1-0 victory and the match served as the only clean sheet the Pride have ever kept against Louisville. The two sides met earlier this year in the season opener with the Pride earning a point on the road after forward Summer Yates got on the end of an Amanda Allen set piece in the 86th minute.
“I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing”
Orlando is now unbeaten through seven matches to start the NWSL regular season. This is the second time in Club history that they have been unbeaten through seven matches with the previous time coming in the 2021 season. The Pride are the only team in NWSL history to have two separate seven-match unbeaten streaks. The Pride have also won the last four games in a row, this also being the second time in Club history to ride such a streak. The Club record win streak is five straight matches, which happened in 2017.
“Banda, We’re Home”
Pride forward Barbra Banda continued to show out for the Pride scoring a brace and earning an assist in the Pride’s midweek match against the Courage. Banda became the ninth player in league history to record at least one goal and one assist in consecutive matches, as she looks to become the first NWSL player to do so in three straight appearances. Banda also became the first NWSL player to record five goal contributions in her first two career starts, tallying three goals and two assists in her last two matches.
“I Like Firsts. Good or Bad, They’re Always Memorable”
Pride forwards Ally Watt and Julie Doyle recorded their first goals of the 2024 season in the Pride’s last match against North Carolina. Watt got on the scoreboard first picking up her sixth career NWSL goal, five of which have come with the Pride. She also earned her first assist of the season supplying the helper on one of Banda’s finishes. Doyle scored her first goal of the year in first-half stoppage time, serving as the third of her NWSL career, all of which have come donning the Pride kit. Defender Carrie Lawrence also earned her first assist of the year on Banda’s second goal of the night.
“Do. Or do Not. There is No Try”
The Pride set two new Club records and will look to extend one of them heading into the match against Racing Louisville. The Pride have now scored at least one goal in 11 straight matches, which has set a new Club record for most consecutive games with a goal scored. The Pride also scored three goals in the first half in their last match against the Courage, marking the first time in Club history that the team scored three goals in the first half of a match.
