Who’s Hot
The North Carolina Courage have locked up the number one seed and with that, the Shield. With only one loss on the season, you have to give them credit where credit is due.
Individually, Lynn Williams has suddenly turned her season on its head and is hungry. She quickly climbed up to second in the league for goals scored, tied with Chicago’s Sam Kerr, after bagging a couple of braces and a hat-trick. Debinha and Dunn are right there with Williams pressuring NWSL backlines.
The Courage’s backline has allowed just 2 goals in the last 5 matches and are right behind Seattle for the fewest goals allowed.
Who’s Not
There’s not much in the con’s department for NC right now because, as we mentioned previously, they’ve secured home-field field advantage for round one of the playoffs.
Recent Team Form
While they are league leaders and have locked in their playoff spot, we’ve seen that NC has struggled a bit with the playoff contention teams in their last few matches. They've only taken five points with three goals from their last three games played.
Head-to-Head
The Pride are 3-4-0 all-time against the Courage. This is the first time we’ll travel back to WakeMed Park since the Alanna Kennedy free kick thriller that locked us in third place for the 2017 season. Every point is needed at this point in the playoff run so let's hope for a repeat.
