The Pride concludes their three-game homestand this Saturday when playoff race rivals Portland comes to town. The meeting will be the third between both sides and Portland currently sits just one point behind the Pride. Here is everything you need to know about the Portland Thorns:
Playoff Picture
The table is tight. There’s no hiding that. Portland is hot on our heels in fourth place just one point back and with a game in hand. Regular season games don’t come much bigger than this.
Who’s Hot
The attack as a whole has been hot in 2018. The Thorns rank second in both goals and assists with 30 and 19 respectively. Lindsey Horan tied for first in NWSL with 10 goals and Christine Sinclair is in fourth with seven goals. Sinclair also leads the league in assists with six.
Recent Form
The Thorns were handed a loss last week at the hands of North Carolina, but prior to that road trip, the Portland side ran off three straight wins to really heat up the playoff race.
Head-to-Head
It’s no secret, the Thorns have had the Pride’s number for three years. The Pride are 1-4-1 in NWSL regular season play against Portland and 0-1-0 in the playoffs (We remember that). A win in tomorrow’s match would give the Pride a four-point gap on Portland who has a game in hand.
