In two weeks, Orlando Pride will play its final match of the NWSL season at Camping World Stadium. They will take on Kansas City FC, a team just above them in the rankings. But for the Pride, this match won’t be about the rankings or the points. It’s just about bringing one last win home to the fans.
“This is what we need to do for the final game: we need to look at Kansas, I need to look at what I think is going to be our best team to play against them, and then it’s gonna be up to myself, coaching staff, and the players to get ourselves focused and get ourselves ready and finish with a good result,” Head Coach Tom Sermanni said after the 2-1 loss against Sky Blue FC. The team is hoping to leave it all out on the field and give the best performance they can, and to give a final send off to the fans that have made this inaugural season so special.
“Definitely important for us to finish this season on a high note and, you know, as frustrated as we are, we still have another game to get a win and I think it’s possible that we can win that last one in front of our home fans,” Midfielder Kristen Edmonds said after the match. “ [The fans] never disappoint. So, we’re hoping to get three points from that one and finish the season strong.”
