Canberra United 3, Perth Glory 2 (recap / highlights)
It was a Pride vs. Pride battle this weekend, with Toni Pressley and Canberra United hosting Rachel Hill and Perth Glory in the Round 5 battle. Hill scored yet another goal but Canberra sealed their third straight win with a 70th-minute goal.
After Canberra got on the board first, Hill continued her offensive tear, scoring her seventh goal in five games with a breakaway equalizer just before the first-half whistle. However, Canberra would go on to score two unanswered goals for a 3-1 lead. Glory pulled within one in the 87th minute and Hill came inches from equalizing in the waning moments but her shot skimmed the crossbar.
Both sides played without their Australian national team players, who were away on international duty for matches against Canada. With Canberra’s victory, four sides now sit tied atop the W-League ladder with nine points.
