With only a few days out from Memorial Day, Orlando City Soccer Club salutes members of the Armed Forces through special Military Appreciation Day on May 30 when the Lions take on Columbus Crew SC at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.
For Lions’ goalkeeper Tally Hall, the event holds special meaning.
“I consider myself extremely blessed and fortunate to be an American. There are people that have fought and died for those rights and so as an athlete, I have a platform to give back to the people that deserve it the most,” said Hall.
When Hall was with the Houston Dynamo, he helped establish Banded Brigade Outdoors—a nonprofit foundation that organizes and hosts outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and shooting for active duty and retired veterans and their families. Both of his grandparents served in the military and his brother for the Air Force specifically.
The event marks yet another way Orlando City SC is connecting with its community, striving to build a strong relationship with the city and its residents. This Saturday, members of the Patrick Air Force Base Honor Guard will perform the pregame presentation of colors. Team graphic designer Matt Stone will also dedicate the second edition of the commemorative gameday posters to members of the Armed Forces. Uniquely designed for each fixture, the posters will be available at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on match-day, as well as the Orlando City front office (618 East South Street, Orlando 32801) for a donation to the Orlando City Foundation.
“I’m very happy that I’ve been given this chance and I’m doing my best to give back to the people that have given us this great life,” said Hall.
“I’m incredibly excited to have members of the military come out and enjoy this game with us and as I move on throughout the year and get a little bit more comfortable with Orlando, I hope to get more and more involved as time goes on.”
